Linda's Drapery & Interiors

Wendi Holliday Horrell, owner of Linda's Drapery and Interiors has been helping me decorate my home. When she found out that I built websites on the side, she mentioned that she may need a new site. Her existing site was created with one of those website overnight applications that hosts sometimes feature. Kind of an awkward interface to use and the display was slightly broken.

When she decided to make the change we discussed what she wanted to do with the site and how she she wanted it to look. The structure was to be similar to what she already had with pages for home, contact, and the services provided with the addition of a projects page and a future blog (she is a feature writer for a local design magazine.) The design tone was to be classic home decorating with feminine colors.

I built the site using WordPress and copied all of her existing content over and added a gallery page for displaying photos of completed projects.

Wendi picked out several themes from which she eventually eliminated down to one. I then started to modify that theme with all the changes she wanted. With layout and graphics enhancements and color changes the only thing left from the contributed theme was the typographic elements. I added the beautiful jQuery plugin, Nivo Slider, for the rotating image header and used Highslide JS JavaScript Thumbnail viewer for the pop out at ya photo display. The site is best viewed using modern standards based web browsers like Firefox, Chrome and Safari.

Payment for the site is being made on the barter system. I need decorating work done so we are trading services.
